Posted on 21 January 2017
Seohyun of Girls’ Generation has finally made her solo debut! On January 17, the youngest member and one of the lead vocalists of Girls’ Generation revealed her new music video for “Don’t Say No”. Seohyun also released her debut album, also titled “Don’t Say No”, on the same day. In the music video, Seohyun gets back at her lover after he starts spending time with another girl.
In the video for “Don’t Say No”, Seohyun starts off with a geeky outfit, then soon switches to a glamorous dress. She hangs out with her lover in the car and at dinner, and also dances with her crew of backup dancers. Finding out that her guy is seeing someone else, she takes revenge. Seohyun played a huge part in making the concept for “Don’t Say No”, sharing at her debut showcase that SM’s number one producer, Lee Sooman, had a different concept in mind for Girls’ Generation’s youngest member.
“Don’t Say No” is a dance track that blends in R&B and pop, and was written by SM’s top in-house producer Kenzie alongside Matthew Tishler, a producer who has previously worked with other SM artists. Seohyun’s first solo album features a stunning seven new songs, including lead single “Don’t Say No”, a duet with Eric Nam titled “Hello”, “Magic”, “Lonely Love”, “Love & Affection”, “Bad Love”, and “Moonlight”.
Seohyun is the sixth member of Girls’ Generation overall to release a solo song, following in the footsteps of Taeyeon, Yoona, former fellow member Jessica, Tiffany, and Hyoyeon. Seohyun will also be holding a solo concert to go along with her debut album, with the headline “Love, Still – Seohyun” and a romance movie theme, at SMTOWN’s very own COEX Artium Seoul next month from February 24 to 26.
