EXO’s Lay Makes a Surprise Solo Debut with “what U need?” Music Video
Posted on 09 October 2016
SM Entertainment just launched their next solo artist. On October 7, EXO’s Lay released his first ever solo music video for “what U need?” - his solo debut, and also as a surprise gift for his fans and his birthday – which he celebrated on the same day.
Lay took part in several aspects of the production of his “what U need?” solo debut – from contributing to the composition and the lyrics writing of his song, the planning and design of the music video and its set, and also the dance moves and choreography.
As the music video for “what U need?” comes to an end, Lay gets out of the car he’s driving – as a glow of red covers the scene and his eyes also turn red. The line “Lose Control” then appears, hinting at Lay’s next solo release. Lay is reportedly preparing to release a full-length solo album sometime in the future.
Before his solo debut this week, Lay and the members of EXO promoted on music shows and several other events with their new song “Lotto” - the title track of their third repackage album “Lotto”; “Lucky One” and “Monster”, for their third original album “Ex’Act”; and “Dancing King”, EXO’s song for SM Station, with comedian and variety show host Yoo Jae-suk.
