BTS Tell the World What Being an “Idol” is Really All About in New Music Video

BTS - IDOL

BTS are back! On August 24, BTS unveiled their new music video for “Idol”, the lead single of their second compilation album “Love Yourself: Answer”. BTS set a new record once again, with their new “Idol” video achieving more than 56.2 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours.

BTS’ latest album “Love Yourself: Answer” is the fourth and final part of their Love Yourself series, following their short film “Love Yourself: Wonder”, fifth mini album “Love Yourself: Her”, and third full album “Love Yourself: Tear”.

The music video for “Idol” starts off with BTS sitting together in the open, telling the whole world that they don’t care whether they get called an idol or an artist. This time around, BTS are all about being happy with who you are, no matter what anyone else thinks. BTS let loose and go wild with their new moves, dancing in a palace exploding with color that flies all the way up to the sky, goes deep under the ocean, and returns back up to the ground, where they get joined later on by a huge crowd.

BTS’ new single “Idol” blends in powerful rap breaks, house music tunes, and beats from the South African music genre, gqom, and the traditional Korean performance music known as gugak. BTS’ new compilation album “Love Yourself: Answer” features 26 tracks in total, spanning two CDs.

Disc 1 includes the first 16 songs: Jungkook’s solo “Euphoria”, J-Hope’s “Trivia: Just Dance”, Jimin’s “Serendipity (Full Length Edition)”, “DNA”, “Dimple”, RM’s “Trivia: Love”, “Her”, V’s “Singularity”, “Fake Love”, “The Truth Untold (feat. Steve Aoki)”, Suga’s “Trivia: Seesaw”, “Tear”, Jin’s “Epiphany”, “I’m Fine”, lead single “Idol”, and “Answer: Love Myself”.

Disc 2 features the final 10 tracks: “Magic Shop”, “Best of Me”, “Airplane, Pt. 2”, “Go Go”, “Anpanman”, “MIC Drop”, “DNA (Pedal 2 LA Mix)”, “Fake Love (Rocking Vibe Mix)”, “MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix/Full Length Edition)”, and the digital bonus track “Idol (feat. Nicki Minaj)”.

BTS made their previous comeback last May with their third full album “Love Yourself: Tear”. In the music video for the lead single “Fake Love”, BTS wonder if their former lover really loved them while they were together. BTS find a release for the emotions they’re feeling in their intense dance moves and while they’re alone, thinking about what was going on and why things had to end the way they did.

Wow! I like their albums very much. Their recent launch is also quite nice. I happened to hear it first time in a shopping mall in Dubai. And it was nice to listen to.
