Posted on 26 January 2017
2NE1 are sending their final greetings to Blackjacks and K-pop fans everywhere. On January 21, 2NE1 revealed the music video for their last single “Goodbye”. The music video stars CL, Dara, and Park Bom waking up in a black and white room, looking back on the time they spent together as 2NE1 – with Minzy appearing together with them in their memories.
In their final music video for “Goodbye”, 2NE1 walk around and explore a room. CL, Dara, and Bom come together to watch a screen in the wall – playing back moments from their music videos like “I Love You”, “Falling in Love”, “Do You Love Me”, and more – along with their performances on stage during their concerts, behind the scenes footage of the trio with Minzy in the dance practice and dressing rooms, and the four members meeting fans all over the world, while singing goodbye.
YG Entertainment officially confirmed the disbandment of 2NE1, last year in November. The youngest member, Minzy, departed the group previously in May, and has since joined a new agency, The Music Works. CL and Dara have signed new contracts and will continue to stay at YG. Like Minzy, Park Bom has also departed YG. 2NE1’s fandom, the Blackjacks, and K-pop fans all over the world have expressed sadness at the group breaking up – for many of them, 2NE1 was the K-pop girl group they discovered and became fans of.
2NE1 debuted back in May 2009 with “Fire”, following their pre-debut collab single “Lollipop” with fellow YG legends BIGBANG. During their 8 year reign, 2NE1 released dozens of chart-topping hits that became signature K-pop songs in Korea, Asia, and internationally - “I Don’t Care”, “Can’t Nobody”, “Lonely”, “I Am the Best”, “I Love You”, “Falling in Love”, “Come Back Home”, and more. With 2NE1’s disbandment, the recently debuted BLACKPINK are set to take the spotlight as YG’s top girl group.
